Produce Purpose From your Pain: Moment of Truth

Who are YOU in a Moment of Truth?

When a moment of truth presents itself, it’s often unexpected -and uncomfortable and reveals much about a person, a company, a brand.

Who you are in a MOMENT of TRUTH reveals the “real” YOU…

Why?  Candidly, it’s because when there is no rub or pain through conflict – or even celebration, it’s easy to wear a mask to a certain degree and portray our very best face.

BusinessDictionary.Com defines moment of truth as: In customer service, instance of contact or interaction between a customer and a firm (through a product, sales force, or visit) that gives the customer an opportunity to form (or change) an impression about the firm.
Dictionary.Com defines moment of truth as:  The moment at which one’s character, courage, skill, etc., is put to an extreme test; critical moment.

Moments of truth shine the light on the values and principles one truly beholds as a professional and as an individual.

Now, no shame – but who are YOU?

  • Who are you when a client provides constructive feedback?
  • Who are you when you’re feeling overwhelmed in life and perhaps are lacking confidence on the job?
  • Who are you when you’re the customer and your disgruntled?

EXTRA, EXTRA read all about it!!!

There’s good news!

There’s plenty of business to be earned and executed in a more effortless -and even fun way- when in a critical moment – you can keep your cool and work to a WIN.

YOU have the ability to CREATE RAVING FANS!  If you’re ready to differentiate yourself in the marketplace and elevate above the status quo, ask yourself:

  • “Who do I need to be to become – the leader at the next rung? Who do I need to be to attract more quality clients – or better friends?
We can only BE for others what we ARE for ourselves.  Best investment we can make is in ourselves so that out of our learning and overflow we can better serve our family, clients and community.
  • “What do I need to let go of?”

Old tapes about my potential?  Limiting beliefs and stories you’ve created about others? A poverty mindset?  Control and perfection?

  • “What needs to be added, changed, modified or created?”

You’ve seen me use this before, but I’ll use it again.  Have you heard of the acronym H.A.L.T?  It stand for hungry, angry, lonely, or tired.  Sometimes what needs to be modified is as simply as taking a HALT!  For instance, avoid doing any customer service problem solving or even taking a prospect/team members call if you have any HALT systems.  And especially if you’re crunched for time, hit PAUSE – you’ll be so glad you did.

As you consider these questions, DO NOT SHAME yourself!

Be a kind and gracious Truth Teller as no one else is going to be able to champion the brand called YOU like you can…not even me, and I was born for this!

Remember your “brand” extends far beyond the final product or service you deliver.

Who you are and how (S)PEAK and (A)CT in that very specific moment (situation) has the ability to define your brand of professionalism, accountability, and integrity just to name a few.
