Nicolette Bouw, The Dutch Designer

Meet one my most creative clients, Nicolette Bouw, The Dutch Designer!

I recently saw Nicolette’s work featured in 425 Magazine and reached out right away with a huge congratulations as I just LOVED the whole look of the place! Have you seen Margo’s Sweet Shop?  Nicolette’s first brick and mortar location, it was even featured on King 5 evening Magazine (http://nibio.net/august-10th-2018/).  Check it out in person and get your sweet tooth fix at the Redmond Town Center!

Nicolette has a noteworthy background in both architecture and design and is comprehensive, strategic, witty and amazingly creative – embodying a vibrant and bold energy that gets things done!

Below, she shares a bit of her experience as this month’s Client Spotlight!

  • Why did you enlist Uniquely Savvy’s support? Specifically what personal branding/style obstacles were you trying to overcome #BEFORE working with Uniquely Savvy?
I first met Kim at Illuminating Women I was drawn to her from the start. There is something about her personality that gels with me. When I am around her, I want more. When she offered a “Build and Harness your Personal Brand” workshop I knew I had to sign up. My company was growing at that time and I was attracting more and larger projects: I wanted to start at the core and see if I could create new and better habits before the wrong habits would be ingrained. Also I was very curious how my brand would grow.

  • What goals did you desire to achieve?
I wanted to improve myself: be more authentic and trying to be my best always.

  • How has life/business transformed #DURING and #AFTER working with Uniquely Savvy?
In the workshop I learned all about my values as a person and the standards I hold high for my company. I had my breakthrough after the workshop: that you should always be aware of your brand.
I also signed up for a private strategy session to get to the essence of speaking. I enjoyed this 3-hour 1:1 session; as Kim was quick to get to the core of the consultation. With a few questions she was able to create my story, written down and all. She made me rehearse it and tweak it into my words, and up through today I still use it. I would highly recommend investing in yourself, you would benefit with an 1:1 session with this genius brain, she will take you to places you hadn’t thought of.Nicolette Bouw The Dutch Designer Personal Branding Uniquely Savvy

  • A favorite project of which you are proud?
Back in 2012 I designed my first Extreme Makeover: converting a storage closet! As a designer, I always see the possibilities for creating magic in impossible spaces! Do you think it would be possible to convert a storage room into a fully functioning bedroom? No? Neither did my client! This room was a 57 sq. ft. storage room with no heating, windows, or even insulation! See the end results here: http://nibio.net/project/extreme-makeover/This year I’ve designing a lot commercial properties; from Women’s Retreat Centers to new headquarters for an Italian Chef. But the one I am really proud of is my first Brick-and-Mortar location in Redmond Town Center: Margo’s Sweet Shop. It was even featured on King 5 Evening Magazine.

  •  What inspires your work?
“Give me an impossible space and I’ll show you my magic!”  As an Architect I am always inspired by many things:

*Paint colors: If we combine this and that color that would really enhance the space
*Tiles: I see tiles and want to design a master bathroom
*Furniture and fabrics: Picking out nice combinations to boost the space
*Magazine pages: Can really take me to design an entire home
*HGTV: Always puts me in the mood to remodel homes

  • What’s next for you?
In September we will start with a big home/kitchen remodel. I created all the designs and remodel tweaks: how to fit in as much as possible with limited space while adding square footage to the house was not an option, but moving the coat closet more in the hallway was: creating a wealth of space for an amazing 10 feet long pantry. Also, this time of year I’ve been asked to do a lot of new interior/home designs by people who are moving here from CA.My company specializes in creating environments that enhance the beauty and functionality of homes: from a simple living room design consultation to whole home remodels and beyond. I  get the opportunity to alter those projects with commercial projects  from a beautiful workspaces, to new headquarters to brick-and-mortars.
  • Tell us something about working with Coach Kim that doesn’t meet the eye!
Kim is 100% focused, energized and fully present during every conversation. Her personality is very contagious, and she really draws you in. I always get energized and feel loved by her, every time I see her! And just like me she likes giving gifts. And we always text each other pictures of great shoes!

(Awww, thanks Nicolette…I feel loved by you too!)
