What is Black Graduation?

To Whom it May Concern

Re: Kim Peterson of Uniquely Savvy

On June 3rd, 2017 we held our 12th Annual Black Graduation Celebration at Central Washington University. We were honored to have Kim Peterson of Uniquely Savvy as our keynote speaker.  Her keynote was entitled “If You Want to Fly: Pearls of Wisdom for Your Journey.”  I have been involved with this event for several years and we have hosted many excellent keynote speakers. Kim’s keynote was among the best.

I was very impressed with Kim’s preparation. Prior to the event she asked great questions about the history of the event and about those who would be in attendance. She had a genuine desire to give a keynote that was relevant. Upon arriving to our campus, Kim visited the venue and took time to meet some of the students that were helping prepare for the event. As she interacted with them, they shared they hopes and dreams with her and she gave them all great nuggets of advice.  She even took the time to show one of our students how to work towards her goals by building a mind map. It was great to see a guest speaker come to campus who was willing to take the time to engage with our students.  I was impressed by how quickly she was able to build rapport with them

The following day Kim was excited to deliver her keynote. Prior to the start of the event she took the time to meet many of the graduates and their families. When it was time for her to speak, Kim had everyone’s attention.  She has an very engaging speaking style that held the audience captive from the start. She directed her message to the graduates but it was as though she was talking to each person directly. Several times during the keynote people clapped and/or cheer in response to her many inspiring statements.

After the event, Kim continued to be an active participant. She went around and talked with many of the students and parents. She also took pictures with all who asked her.  Even after the Black Graduation Celebration was over, Kim continued to talk with the students and even did a “Facebook live” video with them celebrating the graduates and the success of the event.

I received many comments from those in attendance about how inspiring her keynote was. Kim did an excellent job and she really added something special to the event this year.

We were glad to have her as our keynote and we would not hesitate to bring her back again to work with our students and staff at CWU.

If you are looking for a speaker or coach who can take your event or your team to the next level,  I highly recommend Kim Peterson of Uniquely Savvy!

Sincerely,

Mal Stewman
