Clearly we’re going to have a lot to talk about today!
At first glance, I had mixed thoughts about First Lady, Michelle Obama’s look, (how about her new bangs?!), though the meaning and significance of today -on so many levels- is so much more grand than what anyone is…wearing!
I did appreciate the net read of her visually branded look: sophisticated, modern classic – the use of scrumptious fabrics with impeccable fit, line design, texture, and the piping on her Thom Browne jacket…..but, thought she could spice it up with elements of her personal style; color, bold accessories, or even a scarf of exquisite and harmonizing color. Confession: I’ve never been a fan when she wears conservative pumps. That said, I realize they have a place.
TIP: If the occasion calls for conservative pumps, easily elevate style points by creating a an interesting story with other eye catching details in your outfit.
…..Then I saw that she changed, which was spot on!
Michelle quickly switched out her conservative pumps for appropriate knee-high boots, added a splash of color in her gloves, and a statement belt that was classy, yet festive….as it should be….
Whew! No matter what your beliefs are, there is a lot of celebration today! , Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, performance’s by a star studded line-up (how about Beyonce’s emerald earrings?!)
