A Dig…Turned Into THIS: What It’s All About!
Woke up to this message on my YouTube vid on “Style” that at a minimum, wasn’t uplifting to me…but it didn’t derail me.
As a speaker, I’m aware of my high pitch at times…and when I coach my clients on how to speak with more impact and effectiveness, I train them on the importance of speaking from a centered, deeper place – one’s diaphragm.
…Before I committed to the path as professional speaker, I needed to decide on my #WHY, why am doing this? Why am I studying and investing in myself as a speaker?
The reason for my messages are not be “to feed my ego” which by default will never be satiated this side of heaven, to gain a thumb’s up…or external praise.
You see, there will always be people who disagree with what I/you have to say, won’t like the way I/you talk…or the way I/you look…or may even think I smile too big!
Shoot, even when speaking with the Seahawks wives this week, I told them something similar (clearly before this happened…). It really doesn’t matter if you “like” me. I believe I have a message someone needs to hear, so with courage, I’m going to be a gracious truth teller.” (Fortunately, we all seemed to like each other- whew!)
YES, as a speaker I have to lay my ego and agenda aside, believing that as imperfect as I am, I have something of value to say.
I have to have the audacity to believe that there is something of value to be gained by the listener…and no, I haven’t always believed that, but now I do.
Anyhoo, before I hopped on my coaching call this morn, I took a moment to respond from what was on my heart…and this is what happened.
#IfJustOne person is positively impacted by any message shared, I will have considered it worth the risk to open my mouth.
Her/his unexpected response totally inspired me for my journey in more ways than one. Hope to learn more from her/him…perhaps there’s a new connection forming!
